Three generations in Boiolo, La Morra

The Bosco family has owned approximately 10 hectares of single-vineyard land for three generations, arranged around the family farmhouse. Boiolo is an MGA (Additional Geographical Indication) of the municipality of La Morra: clay- and limestone-rich soils, crossed by some marl veins, with vineyards situated between 350 and 400 meters above sea level. It is precisely these conditions that give the area's Nebbiolo a more aromatic and elegant profile, with fine-grained tannins.

From bulk to bottle: the winery's history

For decades, the grapes from Boiolo were vinified and sold in bulk to other wineries. In 2014, Pierangelo began selecting a small portion of the best grapes and bottling the wine under the winery's name: thus were born the family's first bottles of Barolo Boiolo, produced in minimal quantities (2,500 bottles). In 2017, Gaia and Niccolò, Pierangelo and Elisa's children, joined the winery, taking on winemaking and sales respectively and bringing production to around 10,000 bottles.

A defined style: steel, spontaneous fermentations, discreet wood

Today, production consists of four well-defined types. Carefully selected and handled grapes, vinification in steel tanks with spontaneous fermentations, aging in large barrels for the Barolo and in tonneaux for the Barbera d'Alba: the wood supports the wine without overpowering the characteristics of the grape variety and the quality of the grapes brought into the winery.
