Barbera d'Alba DOC - The Excellence of the Langhe
Barbera d'Alba DOC by Bosco Pierangelo is a fine red wine produced in the hills of the Langhe, in Piedmont. This wine represents the essence of the Piedmontese winemaking tradition and the passion for viticulture that has distinguished our company for generations.
Vine and Territory
Produced exclusively with Barbera grapes, a native Piedmontese vine grown on the hills of Alba, where the marly-calcareous soil and the particular microclimate create the ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes. The Bosco Pierangelo vineyards are located at an altitude of 300-400 meters above sea level, with a south/south-east exposure that guarantees optimal ripening of the grapes.
Organoleptic Characteristics
- Color: Intense ruby red with purple reflections
- Nose: Broad and complex bouquet with notes of ripe red fruit (cherry, plum), light hints of spices and an elegant balsamic finish
- Taste: Dry, warm and enveloping, with a pleasant acidity typical of the grape variety that makes it fresh and lively, soft and well-integrated tannins
- Alcohol content: 15% vol.
Food Pairings
Perfect with tasty first courses, mushroom risotto, red meats, game and medium-aged cheeses. It pairs splendidly with traditional Piedmontese dishes such as tajarin with ragù, braised meat and agnolotti. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C.
Production Method
The grapes are hand-picked when they reach perfect ripeness, generally in the second half of September. After a delicate pressing, the must ferments at a controlled temperature for about 10-12 days. This is followed by 6-8 months of refinement in oak barrels, which gives the wine complexity and structure, while maintaining the varietal characteristics of the Barbera grape intact.
A wine that tells the history and tradition of the Langhe, bringing the authentic aromas and flavours of Piedmont into the glass.
