Nero d'Avola DOC is a Sicilian red wine produced by the Menicucci winery. It is obtained from the grape variety of the same name and represents one of the best expressions of Sicilian viticulture.

Vine and Territory

The Nero d'Avola grape variety is native to Sicily and is particularly well suited to the island's warm and sunny climate. The vineyards are located in areas with varied soils, which give the wine great complexity.

Production Method

The production of Nero d'Avola DOC follows traditional methods with a careful selection of grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the organoleptic characteristics of the grapes. The refinement takes place in stainless steel for at least 6 months.

Organoleptic Characteristics

  • Color: intense red with purple reflections.
  • Nose: The nose appreciates aromas of ripe red fruits, spices and light hints of vanilla.
  • Taste: on the palate it is full, soft and harmonious with well-balanced tannins.
  • Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

Nero d'Avola DOC pairs perfectly with red meats, roasts, mature cheeses and typical Sicilian dishes. It is also pleasant to drink as a meditation wine.

Winemaking and Temperature

Soft pressing of the grapes with fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature (20°c).
Maceration on the skins for 10 days.
Refinement: in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.

Rich and full of notes of ripe red fruits and balsamic vinegar, complemented by light spicy notes of thyme, vanilla, pepper and cinnamon.

Full-bodied and delicate, with sun-ripened notes of strawberry, cherry, pomegranate and licorice. The structure is eminent with silky tannins.

Intense ruby red.

Nero d'Avola is perfect for spicy meats, preferably grilled or slow-cooked dishes, first courses, tomato-based dishes, etc.
