Menicucci
Menicucci: Tuscan wines between tradition and innovation
The Menicucci 1689 winery is a blend of tradition and innovation: with expertise and professionalism, it produces wines made from grapes grown in the rolling Tuscan countryside, complemented by a selection of labels from other great Italian wine regions. On BEVINO, you can buy Menicucci wines online, from Chianti Classico DOCG to Southern reds, with shipping throughout Italy.
A family story in Tuscany
The winery bears the name of Luca Menicucci, originally from Tuscany, who started production many decades ago. The company's history is marked by love and respect for local wines, a passion that runs through the veins of the people of this land and has translated into a recognizable style: gastronomic, clean wines, never excessive, designed to accompany the table.
The vineyard: Alberese, Galestro and the estate's grape varieties
The estate occupies an east-facing hill, characterized by soil composed of Alberese and Galestro, the two classic soils of Chianti: poor, stony, and well-drained, capable of producing fragrant wines with good acidity. Here grow Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Vermentino. The east-facing exposure ensures that the grapes ripen gradually, preserving freshness and aromatic finesse.
The best-known wines
Among the winery's most famous labels are the Chianti Classico DOCG, the Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG and the Governo, obtained using the traditional Tuscan "governo" technique, which gives the wine softness, color, and particularly full fruit. To discover the Sangiovese from this area, you can start with the Tuscan red wines selected by BEVINO.
The Menicucci selection on BEVINO
- Wine Box "Chianti Classico" – the ideal package for discovering Tuscan Sangiovese or giving as a gift; also check out the other wine boxes.
- Appassimento Puglia IGT – a soft and generous red made from partially dried grapes, with notes of plum, cocoa, and vanilla (you can find it among the Puglian red wines).
- Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC – juicy and spicy, with gentle tannins, one of the best value-for-money wines in the range; compare it with the other Abruzzese red wines.
- Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC – a fresh and citrusy white, perfect as an aperitif and with fish dishes, like the Venetian white wines in our selection.
Food pairings
Chianti Classico is the natural companion for steak, pappardelle with ragù, and Tuscan pecorino cheese. Appassimento pairs well with aged cheeses, braised meats, and dark chocolate. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is at its best with pizza, arrosticini, and tomato-based first courses. Pinot Grigio accompanies seafood appetizers, risottos, and vegetables. Serve whites at 8-10 °C and reds at 16-18 °C.
