The Pink Elegance of Veneto
Discover Fugolo Gianluca's 2023 Rosato Veronese IGT, a rosé wine that embodies the freshness and versatility of the Veronese winemaking tradition. Delicate, fruity, and immediately enjoyable, this rosé represents the perfect expression of the Italian summer, where its pale pink color and fresh aromas evoke moments of conviviality and lightness.
The History
Rosé wine has an ancient tradition in Veneto, a region where viticulture intertwines with Roman and medieval history. In the Verona area, known for great reds like Amarone and Valpolicella, the production of rosés represents a lighter and fresher interpretation of the same native grape varieties, obtained through a brief maceration of the skins that gives the wine its characteristic pink color and delicate, fruity aromas.
Gianluca Fugolo represents the new generation of Veronese producers who combine tradition and innovation. His winery, located in the heart of Valpolicella, is passionately dedicated to enhancing native Venetian grape varieties – Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella – interpreting them in a modern and accessible way. The rosé is produced using the 'rosé winemaking' method: red grapes are crushed and left in contact with the skins for a few hours, just long enough to extract the pink color and primary aromas, without tannins.
This 2023 Rosato Veronese IGT stands out for its fresh and fruity aromatic profile: notes of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, pink grapefruit, and white flowers intertwine with delicate citrus nuances. On the palate, it is fresh, savory, and highly drinkable, with a pleasant acidity that balances the fruit's softness. A wine that expresses the lightness and elegance of Italian rosé, perfect for summer but enjoyable all year round.
Production Area
Veronese IGT, province of Verona, Veneto. The vineyards extend over the hills of Valpolicella and surrounding areas, at an altitude between 100 and 400 meters above sea level. The climate is temperate, with influences from Lake Garda that moderate temperatures and create ideal conditions for vine cultivation.
The soils are predominantly calcareous and clayey, rich in minerals, which give the wines freshness, savoriness, and that characteristic minerality. The proximity to the lake and constant breezes favor temperature fluctuations that preserve the natural acidity of the grapes and develop fresh, clean aromas. This area, famous for great reds, also produces excellent quality, fresh, and aromatic rosés.
