Full Description

The Barolo "Boiolo" DOCG 2020 by Bosco Pierangelo is an exceptionally fine red wine produced in the Langhe hills of Piedmont. Known as the 'King of Wines', this Barolo represents the excellence of Piedmontese winemaking tradition and the ultimate expression of the La Morra territory, where the Bosco family has passionately cultivated vineyards for generations.

Grape Variety and Terroir

The Boiolo Cru of La Morra

Produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, an indigenous Piedmontese varietal considered one of Italy's noblest. The grapes come from vineyards located in the Boiolo cru, one of the most suitable and prestigious areas in the municipality of La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe. Here, the marly-calcareous soil and the unique microclimate, characterized by ideal temperature fluctuations, create the perfect conditions for the maturation of this demanding grape.

Tradition and Sustainability

Cultivation is carried out with respect for centuries-old tradition and the environment, using sustainable agricultural practices that ensure a product of the highest quality. Each cluster is carefully monitored from the vineyard to the winery, in a process that combines ancient wisdom with modern techniques.

Production Method and Aging

Harvest and Vinification

Grapes are harvested strictly by hand upon reaching perfect phenolic ripeness, generally in the second half of October. After careful selection of the best clusters and gentle crushing, the must ferments at a controlled temperature for about 15-20 days with maceration on the skins, extracting color, tannins, and noble aromas.

The Art of Aging

This is followed by a long aging period of at least 38 months, of which a minimum of 18 months are spent in Slavonian oak barrels, as stipulated by the strict Barolo DOCG regulations. This long process imparts aromatic complexity, significant tannic structure, and elegance to the wine, characteristics that make it suitable for further bottle aging for many years.

Serving and Storage

Serve at a temperature of 18-20°C in large balloon glasses, preferably after decanting for at least an hour to allow the wine to oxygenate and fully express its complex bouquet.

Aging Potential

Thanks to its significant structure and noble tannins, this Barolo can age beautifully for 15-20 years in a temperature-controlled cellar (12-14°C), evolving and acquiring further complexity with tertiary notes of leather, undergrowth, mushrooms, and spices.
