Full Description
Corteregia's Greco di Tufo DOCG 2024 is a white wine of great finesse and elegance, capable of authentically expressing the extraordinary identity of Irpinia. Considered one of the most prestigious white wines of Southern Italy, this Greco embodies the winemaking tradition of Campania and the richness of the Tufo territory.
Grape Variety and Territory
The mineral heart of Irpinia
Produced exclusively with Greco grapes, an ancient indigenous Campanian variety whose presence dates back to the era of Magna Graecia. The vineyards are located in the tufaceous hills of the municipality of Tufo, a unique territory characterized by soils rich in sulfur and minerals that give the wine its celebrated savouriness.
The Irpinian climate, marked by significant temperature variations between day and night, promotes a slow and complex aromatic evolution, while the intermediate altitudes allow the grapes to maintain a distinct freshness.
Tradition and Sustainability
Corteregia operates with full respect for local tradition, adopting sustainable agricultural practices that enhance the ecosystem. Vineyard management is rigorous and meticulous: careful pruning, minimal intervention, and no invasive use of chemicals. Every decision aims to preserve varietal purity and territorial integrity.
Winemaking follows an approach that combines experience, sensitivity, and modern technologies, avoiding any excess to allow space for the natural expressiveness of the Greco.
Production Method and Aging
Harvest and Vinification
Harvesting takes place by hand in the first half of October, when the grapes reach full sugar and aromatic ripeness. After a careful selection of the best bunches, the grapes are gently pressed to extract only the free-run must.
Fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures in stainless steel to preserve aromatic integrity, finesse, and freshness. A prolonged stay on the fine lees, with periodic bâtonnage, gives the wine greater complexity, structure, and volume on the palate.
Aging
Corteregia's Greco di Tufo 2024 rests exclusively in stainless steel for several months, maintaining its mineral imprint and the vitality of the grape variety. This is followed by bottle aging, which allows the bouquet to enrich and harmonize.
