Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG - The King of Venetian Wines
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG by Fugolo Gianluca is one of the most prestigious and renowned wines in Italy, produced in the Veneto region, in the hilly area of Valpolicella. This wine represents the excellence of the Italian winemaking tradition and the maximum expression of the Veronese territory.
Vines and Territory
Produced according to the DOCG specification with a traditional blend of native grapes: Corvina Veronese (45-95%), Rondinella (5-30%) and small percentages of other local vines such as Molinara and Corvinone. The grapes come from vineyards located on the hills of Valpolicella, where the calcareous-clayey soil and the particular microclimate create the ideal conditions for the cultivation of these vines.
Production Method
The distinctive feature of Amarone is the production method that involves drying the grapes. After the harvest, which is done strictly by hand, selecting the best bunches, the grapes are placed in wooden boxes or on racks in ventilated rooms called 'fruttai'. Here they remain for 3-4 months, losing up to 40% of their weight in water and concentrating sugars, aromas and noble substances. This is followed by a slow fermentation and a long refinement of at least 2 years in oak barrels, which gives the wine complexity and structure.
Organoleptic Characteristics
- Color: Intense ruby red that evolves into garnet with aging
- Nose: Complex and enveloping bouquet with notes of ripe fruit (cherry, plum), dried fruit, spices, cocoa, tobacco and balsamic hints
- Taste: Full-bodied, warm and velvety, with elegant tannins and a perfect balance between power and softness
- Alcohol content: 15-16% vol.
Food Pairings
Perfect with important dishes such as roasts, braised meats, game, stews and mature cheeses. Also excellent as a meditation wine. Serve at a temperature of 18-20°C, preferably in large glasses to fully appreciate its bouquet.
A highly prestigious wine that represents the excellence of the Italian winemaking tradition, ideal for special occasions and for true connoisseurs.
